Benchmark Celebrates 18-Year Anniversary
Redlands, CA (September, 2011) – Benchmark Transitions is proud to announce its 18-Year Anniversary. Founded in September, 1993, by Jayne S. Longnecker-Harper, Benchmark has been a pioneer in the industry of emotional growth schools and treatment programs for troubled young adults and is now one of the longest running programs of its milieu.
Benchmark's tradition of helping families began with Jayne’s early vision - to offer therapeutic program where parents could entrust their grown child in a nurturing environment, where learning differences meant new options and education – both traditional and vocational - would be a priority. A place where young adults could conquer challenges such as addiction, ADD/ADHD, anxiety and depression and other co-occurring diagnoses, and gain the skills needed to become successful and autonomous.
That vision started with one student, one staff member and one bed and has grown to include a 20,000 square foot education and life skills center where licensed therapeutic clinicians, certified drug and alcohol counselors and life-coaching staff now mentor over 60 emerging adult students.
With sobriety and the 12-Steps providing a solid foundation, Benchmark’s Recovery & Aftercare substance addiction component is integrated into our Life Skills curriculum. We reach beyond, and compliment, the traditional 30/60/90 day primary treatment and wilderness therapeutic programs by offering extended long-term aftercare with our comprehensive life skills, education and vocational programs, clinical treatment and addiction recovery curriculum.
Benchmark is a dual-diagnosis program and our Behavioral Health curriculum is designed for those students without substance abuse issues. The Benchmark Young Adult School high school curriculum is nationally accredited and our education department offers academic assessment, curriculum guidance and career testing. Students live and work with their peers in college-style apartments within the community of Redlands, enjoying fun and sober community events like concerts under the stars, picnic in the park, baseball games, hiking in the local mountains and going to the beach with friends.
