The Benchmark Transitions™ Program
Benchmark is a residential, co-educational and therapeutic transitional living program for young adults. Our model is peer-group and community based using a life coaching and therapeutic approach.
We offer practical application with skills-based and cognitive behavioral treatment, allowing students to learn personal responsibility and accountability through hands-on trials. The core component of our curriculum requires a minimum commitment of six months to complete Level I and Level II. The second component of the program is optional and includes on and off property independent living, which makes the typical length of stay a total of 10-12 months. We also offer extended care programs from 12-24 months.
A Primary Life Coach will be assigned at enrollment and will monitor each student as they progress through the Transitional Living Phases. They provide support to students regarding their daily schedule, educational, vocational and work skills coaching; assist students with fitness and wellness, apartment living and utilizing resources available in the community. Primary Life Coaches serve as a liaison with student families and educational consultants, and provide students with appropriate opportunities for the development of daily living skills, personal growth and overall success in the program.
Benchmark offers Dual Treatment options – Recovery & Aftercare and Behavioral Health. Recovery & Aftercare students are those who have a history of substance use or abuse. Behavioral Health is for those students who have not exhibited any issues with drugs and/or alcohol. Benchmark’s Transitional Living Phases – Both programs will follow the same skills-based achievement levels, providing students with realistic and attainable goals.
Bronze Phase - (Level I & Level II - Preparation Phase) During the first six months, Benchmark teaches the basic strategies and habits of successful living.
Silver Phase– (Practical Application Phase – Independent Living on Property) In the next three months, students experience the practical application to the skills acquired during the Bronze Phase. Students advance toward independence by adding a part-time job, learning to pay their own bills and managing their personal lives.
Gold Phase – (Independent Living off property and Exit Phase) During the next three months, students transition to living off-property and experience practical living skills, with the safety-net of Benchmark supervision. Students maintain their educational goals, continue working a job in the community and continually develop their financial responsibility.
Graduate Program – (Long Term Extended Care Phase) For those students who are successfully maintaining their independence and appreciate the option of having continued contact with Benchmark, we offer the Graduate Program. Graduate Students may choose to continueworking with their Life Coaches on a month-to-month basis, while they pursue their goals.
(Length-of-stay results are typical for most students; however some students may require additional time, based upon their individual goals and progress.)
