Treatment for Troubled Teens & Young Adults
Behavioral Health & Emotional Growth
For our students who have had no history of issues with drugs and/or alcohol, but who have a history of behavioral troubles and clinical diagnoses, we offer the Benchmark Transitions Behavioral Health program. The Behavioral Health curriculum is a 6- to 12-month long program, designed to assist students who have exhibited issues such as:
- Adoption
- ADD/ADHD
- Anger management
- Anxiety
- Asperger/Autism/PDD spectrum
- Bi-polar disorder
- Co-occurring issues
- Compulsive behaviors
- Depression
- Distressed relationships
- Dial Diagnosis
- Eating disorders/body image (mild)
- Grief/loss
- Inability to grow up
- Lacking confidence
- Learning differences/disabilities
- Non-verbal learning disorder
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Poor judgment
- Requires structure
- Risk taking behavior

Benchmark’s life skills and educational curriculum and is specifically designed as a step–down for young adults who are coming out of wilderness, primary residential and/or therapeutic boarding schools. There are two levels to the Behavioral Health phase of Benchmark’s transitional living program core curriculum. Level I is highly structured. Students are assigned to a peer group. A primary life coach will guide and mentor them through the program. Transportation is provided for Level I students, they do not have access to phones, computers or the community without monitored supervision. Curriculum in Level I includes:

At the conclusion of Level I, students transition to Level II for an additional 12 weeks, which provides the full program of Benchmark's Transitional Living Phases©, taking advantage of the additional resources and passing the test of time. Curriculum/Classes in Level II include:

Emotional Growth
Upon completion and graduation of Bronze Phase (Levels I & II), students begin the Independent Living portion of our transitional living program, making the typical length of stay a total of 10-12 moths.
Student Living Environment
Students live at the State Street Apartments with the other Benchmark Transitions students. The apartments are sectioned by gender and peer group. Most apartments have two bedrooms with common bathroom, living area, kitchen & dining area. There are generally two students per room, four students per apartment. Certified Life Coaches, mentors and night watch counselors are staffed throughout the day and awake/patrolling the grounds at night.
