Therapeutic Services & Clinical Treatment
Our Therapeutic Services department is lead by James Powell, Ph.D., Benchmark’s Clinical Director. Dr. Powell is directly involved in the admissions process and participates in student assessments, therapy and crisis management and parent communications. He supervises clinical work with students and acts as a liaison with other health care and treatment professionals, both internal and external, in areas of individual psychotherapy, medication compliance and clinical progress.
Dr. Powell has assembled a Clinical Team of licensed professions who provide weekly individual therapy and psychiatric treatment to our students. The therapeutic services & clinical treatment team meets weekly to review and assess each individual student’s treatment plans and progress.
Clinical Services include:
- Licensed therapeutic clinicians (M.D., Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT, LMFT Intern)
- Weekly Individual Psychotherapy
- Bi-monthly Psychiatric therapy
- Psychotropic Medication Management
- On-site Neuropsychological Assessment
Other ancillary services can include:
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy classes (DBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Hypnotherapy
- Neurofeedback (EEG Biofeedback)
- Brain Spect Scan Imaging (in cooperation with Amen Clinic in Newport Beach)
